The Board of Directors of Qwetu DT SACCO has officially welcomed Mr. Philip Mwangwale as its newest board member following his election by delegates during the recently concluded Special Delegates Meeting (SDM). Mr. Mwangwale was sworn into office in a ceremony that marks the beginning of a new chapter in Qwetu SACCO’s leadership journey.
The event was witnessed by the Chairman of the Board, Mr. Simon Mbashu, and the Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Charles Kaba, who both expressed their confidence in Mr. Mwangwale’s ability to bring fresh insight and energy to the institution’s governance team. His appointment fills a vacancy on the board and further strengthens Qwetu DT SACCO’s commitment to maintaining strong, visionary, and accountable leadership.
Speaking during the ceremony, Mr. Mbashu reaffirmed the board’s dedication to serving members with integrity, transparency, and innovation. He emphasized that the inclusion of Mr. Mwangwale comes at a time when the SACCO is implementing transformative programs aimed at expanding financial access, promoting savings culture, and empowering members across Taita Taveta and beyond.
Mr. Kaba also welcomed the new director, noting that his experience and leadership qualities would be instrumental in advancing the SACCO’s strategic goals and ensuring that member interests remain at the center of all initiatives. He highlighted the organization’s ongoing efforts to strengthen financial performance, enhance digital service delivery, and drive socio-economic growth through sustainable cooperative practices.
In his brief remarks, Mr. Mwangwale expressed gratitude to the delegates for their trust and pledged to serve diligently, upholding the cooperative’s values of unity, accountability, and service to members.
