Presided over by ACCOSCA Board Chairperson Madam Jeanette Makgolo (ADE, DEEU), the 2025 AGM marked a significant stride in the organization’s journey toward modernizing governance structures, strengthening inclusivity, and promoting accountability across its regional network.

A key highlight of the meeting was the introduction of new Board leadership. David Sohelo Mategwa, Board Chairperson of the Kenya Union of Savings and Credit Cooperatives (KUSCCO Ltd) who also doubles up as the Chairman of the Kenya National Police DT SACCO , was unveiled as ACCOSCA’s new Vice Chairperson. He will be joined by Yogie Mulbah Sirleaf, Board Chairperson of the Liberia Credit Union National Association (LCUNA), and Dr. Samuel Otu-Nyarko, Board Chairperson of the Ghana Cooperative Credit Unions Association (CUA), who both join as new Board Directors.

Each of the new leaders brings deep expertise and a regional perspective that is expected to further strengthen ACCOSCA’s strategic direction and influence across the continent. In addition, Tederash Saccos (Ethiopia) was formally received as an Associate Member, expanding ACCOSCA’s reach and reinforcing its pan-African identity.

Held during the 2025 International Year of Cooperatives, the AGM stood as a model of unity and purposeful leadership. It reflected a movement that is not only well-organized and efficient but also deeply committed to transforming lives and empowering communities through the cooperative business model.

“The success of this AGM is a reflection of our shared vision — to advance good governance, deepen collaboration, and position cooperatives as engines of inclusive growth across Africa,”

said Madam Makgolo.

With its renewed leadership and strengthened governance framework, ACCOSCA continues to chart a forward-looking path for Africa’s cooperative sector — one defined by innovation, resilience, and shared prosperity.
